What is your Name?

Mark Kelton

Subjects You Teach:

Lifting Equipment Examination, Cargo Carrying Units, An Introduction to Slinging and Lifting, An Introduction to LOLER and PUWER, Crane Wire Rope Inspection and Wire Rope Socketing.

How did you get into this industry?

I first entered this industry in 2012, working in wire rope manufacturing, and through time, expanded my skillset into wire drawing, die checking, and rope wire testing. I also gained experience as an Overhead Crane Operator. Then in 2019, I felt I wanted a new challenge, and so I decided to go to university at the ripe old age of 43! Once I graduated,  I sought another new challenge, and that’s how I became a Trainer at Certex UK. Since being at Certex I have successfully gained my teaching and training qualifications and am enjoying helping others also to upskill.

What do you love most about training people?

I enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life and find great satisfaction in helping them underpin and extend their current knowledge and skills to grow professionally. Additionally, no two groups of course participants are the same, which makes my role very varied and interesting.

Fun Fact about Yourself:

I coach disability football, and I have experience in breaking my arms. I have broken my right arm once and my left arm three times. Please don’t ask for a demonstration!
